Getting To Know Stephanie Miller

Please tell us a little bit about your family.

My husband, Justin, and I are both Upstate, SC natives. We currently live in Greer, where we are raising our 19-month old daughter, Georgia, and our crazy Great Danoodle (Great Dane/Standard Poodle), Chapel. We love spending time outdoors, family time, and entertaining. We have bought, renovated, and sold multiple homes and love the process! My husband works for the City of Greer. We enjoy community events and on Sunday mornings you will find us at our church home, His Vineyard.

What do you love most about the real estate industry?

People! Real estate often has very little to do with houses and much more to do with people. I love learning about my clients, what they want and need, and how I can use my skill set to help them reach their goals. Viewing beautiful homes is an additional perk to the job.

What inspired you or led you to become a licensed real estate agent?

I have always been interested in real estate. Even as young child, I wanted to visit open houses on Sunday afternoons. I was highly encouraged not to become a Realtor when I graduated college in 2008. The desire was there but the recession led me to find a job in my field of non-profit management. I worked in this field for several years and eventually became the Executive Director of a local non-profit. However, in the back of my mind, the desire to pursue real estate was still there. A great friend and top producing agent encouraged me to take the plunge in 2014 and I never looked back!

What inspired you or led you to join our C Dan Joyner Family?

I had always heard great things about C. Dan Joyner! I interviewed with the broker in charge, at the time, of the C. Dan Joyner – Greer office and knew it was where I wanted to hang my license. Professionalism, a family atmosphere, and support were certainly at the forefront of the company and it perfectly aligned with my goals as a REALTOR®.

What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?

We love Greer and specifically all that downtown Greer offers. The Strip Club 104 (it’s a steakhouse, I promise) and The Great Bay Oyster House are two of my favorites.

How long have you lived or worked in the upstate of South Carolina?

My entire life! I was born here, went to college at the University of SC Upstate, and am now raising my own family here. I think Upstate, SC has so many great things to offer.

What is the neatest event you have been to here in the upstate?

Seeing the Lion King at the Peace Center was amazing!

Give me three attributes that best describe YOU?

Driven – From my work as a Realtor, to volunteering, to being a wife and mom, I truly try to give everything I do 100%.

Organized – I thrive in an organized setting. My clients have often times told me that I am “one step ahead” and I truly believe that comes from being organized and knowing what comes next.

Honest – I strive to be a trusted resource both as a friend and Realtor.

What is your favorite movie of all time?

Grease

Do you have any advice that you consistently give to your clients?

Do not sacrifice on what is MOST important to you as a buyer and that is typically location.

What is something that you dream of doing one day?

Renovating a home for someone other than myself. I LOVE renovations and all things home decor. While I have gone through multiple renovations myself, I think it would be fun to help someone else through the process.

What would you consider to be your specialty?

I enjoy working with buyers and sellers at all stages of life. However, there is something extra sweet about a first time buyer and I love getting to explain the process to them and helping put them at ease in what some would consider to be a stressful experience.

Outside of a personal family member, is there anyone that you look up to more than anyone else and is considered by you to be an inspiration?

Over the years, I have had multiple mentors and women in my life that I have looked up to. It would be impossible for me to pin-point one. Now, as a mom of a young child, I know the struggle of trying to balance it all. Whether you are a “stay at home” mom, “work from home” mom, “work outside the home” mom, it is all a balancing act. I am personally inspired daily by so many women in my life that have shown me grace as I try to figure it all out and support in helping me to reach both my family and professional goals.

Where would you like to be in your life in the next ten years?

I love life and love where I currently am in life. If the next ten years looks similar to how it currently looks (minus a worldwide pandemic) I would be happy with that.

What is one thing that most people do not know about you?

I was once in a movie and TV show.

If you could be famous would you be an actor, a musician, a politician, a sports star or anything else you would wish to be?

Maybe a motivational speaker…I love cheering people on.

What is your favorite time of the year?

Fall and Spring! Fresh air and time outdoors is good for the soul.

What do you wish for your clients every time you begin to work with them?

I hope that they have peace with the process. Buying and selling can equate to major life changes. I make it a priority to answer their questions, give guidance, and try to give peace of mind that they are making the best decision for themselves and their families.

How do you work on being better everyday (Personal and business)?

Simply by making time for myself. The alarm goes off at 5 am (my husband is not a fan of that). This gives me time to drink coffee, sit by the fire, read my devotional, and ride the Pelton before my daughter wakes up for the day. Starting off on the right foot makes the whole day, both personally and professionally, more productive.

Name one thing that sets you apart from other agents in the Upstate.

Communication! I will not leave a client wondering what is happening in the process of buying or selling. Communication is key.

What is your favorite social media platform?

This is going to make me sound old, but I still love Facebook. I love buying secondhand and FB Marketplace is a gold mine of treasures.

Finally, what makes a home a home to you?

Home is a feeling. It can be the fanciest of homes or the most simple but it’s the feeling you get when you walk in the door. You know you are secure. You can relax and be yourself. You can envision your family and friends gathered around the table. And often times I know it’s the right “home” for my clients when they look at each other and say “Where will we put the Christmas Tree?”.
